Greetings!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend with your family. The weather was so nice!
Team Dolvin Relay for Life is holding their first Spirit Day of the year this Friday, 9/27. Lets "Paint the school PURPLE!" Encourage your child to wear purple and bring in $1 to raise money for this great cause.
Our students had the opportunity to see and hear the fabulous author, Carmen Deedy, last week. She is a wonderful story teller. Ask your child about her!
This week in...
MATH
Blue group will continue with geometry concepts. I have moved their quiz from Tuesday to Wednesday. They started a geometry town project Friday. They're excited to show what they know! The unit 6 test is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday 10/2.
Purple group will work on division strategies this week. They will use the partial quotient strategy learned last year and learn the long division strategy. They will work up to 4 digit divided by 2 digit problems. Their Unit 1b test on multiplication and division test is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday 10/2.
SOCIAL STUDIES
Students have been learning about the events leading up to the American Revolution such as the French and Indian War, the taxes on sugar, tea, stamps etc. This week, we will continue the discussions with the Boston Tea Party, 1st Continental Congress and the Declaration of Independence. They will have a quiz Friday, 9/27. Students have a study guide/notes packet in their binder. They are also encouraged to bring their social studies workbook home when preparing for a quiz or test. The online workbook can also be accessed through Launchpad. They know how to access it.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Nichole Bice
