Greetings parents:
I hope you had a wonderful weekend with your family and enjoyed the nice weather:).
Don't forget: this Wed., Aug. 29th is Fall picture day. I sent an order form home last week.
I enjoyed seeing many of you at Curriculum night last week. One thing that I didn't have time to talk about with my AM parents is the importance of your child mastering his/her multiplication facts. They should be fluent in the 0-9's. It will help them tremendously in math. As promised, here is the link to the Math standards. Click on your child's grade (4th for on level and advanced, 5th for accelerated) and then "curriculum map" to see the standards for each unit.

This week in...
MATH
Red group will review the unit 1 quizzes. I will send them home to be signed. Please review with your child, sign, and return the next day. They will also work on adding/subtracting larger numbers and solving one step and multi step word problems. Their test is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday 9/5.
Blue group will begin unit 5, Decimals and Fractions. This unit will take about 3 weeks. Students will also be working on a task called "Fraction Flag." Their quiz is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday Wed. 9/5. Ask them about it!
Purple group will continue unit 1. Their test has been moved to this Tuesday, 8/28. We will work on writing math expressions and solving word problems.
SOCIAL STUDIES
We will continue with the American Revolution unit. Students are learning about the events leading up to and causes of the AR. Their quiz will be Friday, 8/31.
***I showed the students how to log onto the online social studies text book.
