Greetings parents:
I hope you were able to enjoy the sunshine today! The countdown is on to Thanksgiving Break!
***Friday is Thankful for reading day. Students are invited to dress as their favorite book character or in their PJ’s (the students in costumes can be part of a grade level contest). Please make sure the costumes are school appropriate...nothing scary. If your child is unsure, they can ask a teacher if their planned costume is appropriate. There will be several opportunities for students to hear stories and engage in reading activities that day. I will be sharing more information with the students this week.
This week in...
MATH
Red group will continue with unit 3, equivalent fractions. This week, we'll cover putting fractions in simplest form and finding common denominators. They will also begin a task called Fraction flag.
Blue group will continue with unit 7, Measurement. This week, we'll cover elapsed time and measurement word problems. They will also work on a measurement task, Dinner at the zoo.
Purple group will continue with unit 3, multiplying and dividing decimals. This week, we'll work on multiplying a decimal by a decimal and problem solving. They will have a quiz on Wednesday.
SCIENCE
We will start the stars and planets unit tomorrow. Students usually really enjoy this unit! They love to learn new and interesting facts, as well as share what they know. They will not have a quiz or test this week in science.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Nichole Bice
