Morning Parents,
Today is
the first day of Dolvin Digital Learning. I’m sure you have some questions
about how this is going to work, so I hope this email will provide some answers
for you. Thank you for your patience and flexibility during this time, as this
is a new experience for all of us 😊.
The first week of Digital Learning assignments provided by Fulton County will not be “graded” but they will be turned in upon returning to school. The expectation is they are completed and will help your child get into the
“groove” of online learning and review some standards. If you do not have
printing capabilities your child can answer the questions on a lined piece of
paper. If they use paper, please make sure to have them include the day and the date of the
assignment and the assignment title (for example: Day 1, March 16th, Understanding
Fraction Addition and Subtraction). Although the lessons for week one cover standards we have already covered this year, it is a
very good review of fractions. The purple group will complete the 5th grade lessons since they have already learned those standards in class. We were in the middle of our
measurement unit last week and will resume those lessons in week 2.
The blue group will complete the 4th grade lessons. We were at the
end of our multiplication and division of decimals unit (Unit 3) last week. Our
next unit (Unit 4) covers addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of
fractions with different denominators. So, the 4th grade lessons
your child will complete this week, will be a great review before starting Unit
4 next week.
*Please note that we are following the guidance from Fulton County Schools for week one
of digital learning. When we enter week 2 of digital learning, we will provide
tasks that follow continuous achievement levels.
For week 2 (and any weeks after) some of the assignments will be graded. I will provide
instructions on how your child can submit these assignments.
I will be available each day, Mon – Fri, from 7:10 – 3:10 to answer your questions via
email. I also set up a separate Google Classroom (Ms. Bice Digital Learning)
for my classes only. Please have your child join and look at that Google Classroom
each day. The code is bj45pe7 .
The Fulton County expectation is that 4th graders spend a total of 90 minutes per day on math, ELA and specials. However,
if your child finishes those tasks early, they can look on the Ms. Bice Digital
Learning Google Classroom for additional activities. This is not required.
Think of the Fulton County lessons as “Must do’s” and the lessons on my Google
Classroom as “Can do’s”. Students can also use that space to ask me questions. Since our next Science unit is Force and
Motion and Simple Machines. I will include some “Can do” activities relating to those topics. Students should have the math practice packet for the current unit in their binders. They can work on these also.
We'll get through this! :)
Please do not hesitate to email me with questions.
Sincerely,
Nichole
Bice
